I have been riding motorbikes since I was 7 years old. After riding for awhile, I decided to ride competitively and rode in some local and regional events with some great results.I started taking my riding more seriously in the late 1980's and was riding in the NZ Junior MX Champs against top riders such as Darryl and Shayne King. By the time I was 15 years old, riding was my whole life. I ate, drank, slept and breathed motorcross and every weekend I would be riding somewhere in the country.I travelled throughout the North and South Island winning numerous regional titles and was fortunate enough to travel to Australia to compete in the 1986 New South Wales Junior Motorcross Champs. My best achievements seem to come when I hit 19 years old where I ranked 3rd in NZ in the Pro 125 class.

In 1993, I was offered the trip of a lifetime to join Darryl King as his team mechanic to compete in Europe for the World Motorcross Championship where he was placed 6th. This experience unlocked my enthusiasm for motorcycling and inspired me to develop my riding skills further. On returning to New Zealand in 1994, I decided to continue with my riding on a more competitive level. However in 1999, after riding in various national competitions, I decided to take a break from riding in favour of a new challenge- fatherhood. This new role kept me very busy and time just seemed to tick by very quickly. About this time, I also went into partnership with my dad in the family business, Moorfield Motors Ltd, which I now own outright. Having my own business has allowed me to return to riding.

Cross Country is my favour type of off road motorcycling. The open and fast tracks over a variety of terrains is what gets the adrenalin pumping for me.

I am lucky to have a wife and kids that support my addiction and I hope that when the kids are a little older, we can make this sport a family affair.
