RACE REPORT

1ST ROUND RAGLAN ROCX

23rd January 2010

I got my bike going great at Kimmy’s a few nights before the race so I was wrapped with that, and Luke rode it in for me as I had a bruised collar bone from the Bel Ray so I was pretty stoked about that too.

The morning of the race was good, I was ready to go and do business.  The track was perfect with no dust, lots of challenging sections and marked well, which is great for a Cross Country.  I started off with the Holeshot so I was in the front and never looked back; I just kept my cool and rode to survive.  I was meant to fuel on my second to last lap, Kimmy was meant to get me pulled in but they didn’t quite get the timing right and I ended up doing the whole race on one tank. Lucky I got a big tank. He must be getting blonde in his old age.

Dad was doing the Marshalling and other stuff so I had to rely on my team to help me out with anything that might have gone wrong, but lucky for me my bike ran primo and I really enjoyed the ride.

I finished 1st Overall and 1st in my 125cc Class so I was pretty happy with that result and I’m looking forward to the next and last round at Browns Place, Te Mata. I hope my luck will be the same and all will fall into place for an overall win.

Raglan Rocx Round 2

The weather was great I was excited about the days event. I got a bad start of the line but I soon caught up and by end the of the 1st paddock I was 9th I gave it heaps and passed all of the riders infront of me to come in for the first lap with a 20 second lead.

I didn't have to gas and it makes it so easy to get a good momentum especially when the marking is good.

The track was great, there was a bit of bush, no dust which was great as it had been raining for a few days beforeand I would rather mud than dust.

After 1 1/2hours I came in the win the race by 3 minutes and the overall series for the Raglan Rocx which was a great feeling coming first for both rounds.

Im looking forward to the National Cross Country Series starting and hope to continue my level of riding for a good finish of that series, which has rounds both in the North and South Island and cant wait to give it my best shot for the Metalman Team.
